The #6 seed Chandler-Gilbert Community College men's soccer program won its first round match against #3 seed Arizona Western on Tuesday night. This was the first time in eight attempts that the Coyotes were able to come away with a win in Yuma.
Angel Hernandez scored in the 33rd minute of the first half and the Coyotes were able to outlast a fury of shots on goal throughout the second half. Raphaello Colasito was credited with the assist on Hernandez's goal.
Chandler-Gilbert outshot Arizona Western 10-2, with AWC having seven corner kicks to CGCC's three.
For their second round match-up, the Coyotes now travel to play Phoenix College on Thursday at 6:00 PM. Phoenix College earned themselves a #2 seed and a first-round by with a 16-4-0 regular season record.
