Russell Luce has officially been named Athletic Director as of May 2021 after being the interim Athletic Director since July, 2021 taking over for Ed Yeager who retired after eight years at CGCC and over 30 years in college athletics. 
 
Luce started his coaching career after finishing his playing career at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.  He played 3 years under Charles Bafaro in the Pacific Northwest Conference.
 
After he finished playing he spent the next year as a graduate assistant coach at Pacific University before moving on to coach at Forest Grove High School from 1994-1997.  At Forest Grove High School, he helped guide the Vikings to the Oregon State Playoffs in High School Play and American Legion play in 1995, 1996 and 1997. He was a teacher at Neil Armstrong Middle School.
 
He was hired to go back to his alma matter, Pacific University and act as the recruiting coordinator and Hitting Coach from 1997-2001 under Greg Bradley.
 
In 2001 Luce was hired as an assistant coach at Chandler-Gilbert Community College by Doyle Wilson. Luce spent the next 7 years working under Coach Wilson. Also during this time, Luce worked as an associate scout for 2 MLB organizations the Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals. In 2008 Luce was hired as the 2nd Head Baseball Coach at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. He has had the privilege to coach 17 All-Conference players, 29 All-Region players, 3 All-American’s and has had over 40 players drafted by MLB teams. Luce also had the opportunity to coach Tyler Hollick who was named NJCAA baseball player of the year in 2011. There have been 5 Coyotes make it to the Major Leagues from the program. Under his leadership every team has been named Academic All-American’s by the NJCAA. All of which have carried a 3.0 GPA or above. 
 
He was named as the Assistant Athletic Director in 2008 in the role of Academic Advising and Services to Athletics.  
 
Russ lives in Chandler with his wife Kerri and their 5 Children. Grady, Jack, Cash, Tessa and Ford.
