Mesa basketball battles Chandler-Gilbert in their last game of the homestand Saturday afternoon.

Both the men and women's teams were able to take down Central Arizona on Wednesday. The men's team will have their hands full as they take on the undefeated Coyotes.

The men's team for CGCC rolls in boasting a 7-0 overall record, and a 2-0 conference record. Their last game was a victory against South Mountain 78-73.

The men come in with one of the best defenses in the conference as they hold opponents to 56.6 points a game on 35.7% shooting from the field while boasting the second best defensive efficiency in the ACCAC.

On the offensive side of the ball the Coyotes have three players that average double figures scoring, and have four players who shoot 60% or better from the field. The team averages 93.1 points a game on 52% shooting from the field.

The Thunderbirds come in with a 5-1 overall record and a 1-1 conference record. Their last game was a tight victory against Central Arizona, 67-70.

Mesa has five players who average double figures scoring, all led by Timmy Johnson (15.0), Johnson also has the fourth best three point percentage in the conference shooting an impressive 53.8% from beyond the three point stripe.

The Lady Thunderbirds improved their record to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play as they defeated CAC 64-54 Wednesday night. MCC comes in ranked No. 7 in the country.

The T-Birds score the second most points per game in the conference with 77.3 and possess  the best field goal (45.8%) and three-point percentage (38%) in the conference. Shooting has been a strong suit for MCC to start the season as Mykah Anderson has the fifth best field goal percentage (53.1%) in the conference, and the fourth best three-point percentage (50.0%). Kada Taliman holds the third best three-point percentage in the ACCAC (52.0%).

The Lady Coyotes come in winning two of their last three, but lost their last game against South Mountain, 64-62.

CGCC's women's team comes in averaging 65.9 points a game on 41.8% shooting from the field. They come in with the second best three-point percentage in the conference with 36.8%. The Coyotes give up the second most points per game, allowing opponents to score 67.4 points per contest.

The men's game is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 pm, followed by the women who tip-off at 4:00pm.
