GateWay Softball beat Chandler-Gilbert in game one. Both teams were strong in the circle Saturday, but GateWay defeated Chandler-Gilbert 2-1. Kelly Katalbas allowed just six hits and one run to the Coyotes, striking out five. Paige Salazar started the game for Chandler-Gilbert. The lefthander allowed seven hits and two runs over six innings, striking out seven.
The Lady Geckos collected seven hits on the day. Amaya Porch and Rosalie Celaya each managed multiple hits for GateWay. Porch led the way with three hits in three at bats. Hailey Berry went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Coyotes in hits.
