Double-Header Sweep for #2 Mesa Baseball Tuesday Afternoon vs Chandler-Gilbert, 2-1, 6-5 Finals

Mesa, AZ - Two close games between the #2 Mesa Thunderbirds and Chandler-Gilbert Coyotes Tuesday afternoon but it was the T-Birds who prevailed in both games, beating the Coyotes 2-1 in game one and 6-5 in game two.

The T-Birds used a sac fly from Ari Fierer in the eighth inning to finalize the extra innings game one victory, scoring Josh Leslie.  Stabilizing Mesa on the hill was Erik Dulittle, who pitched six innings, allowed five hits, and one earned run while striking out three.  Jonathan Weiss earned the victory with two solid final innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three.

In game two, two 3-run innings propelled Mesa to victory.  Following walks by Connor Culp and Lucas Danielwicz, a Cade Malone double scored Culp from second.  A pass ball then scored Danielwicz from third with the third run being scored by Malone on a Coyote error.

The very next inning, Josh Leslie singled to lead off the inning with Connor Culp doubling after.  A Danielwicz walk loaded the bases for Mesa which all three runners would eventually score with two coming off a big hit from Brady Bulger, a two-run single to left field.

With the two wins, Mesa improves to 6-0 on the season.  The T-Birds will play at home this Saturday against the Phoenix College Bears.
