Volleyball Wins Home Finale

Volleyball Wins Home Finale

Chandler, AZ-- October is Breast Cancer Awareness night, and for the final home regular season match of the year, the Coyote Volleyball program decided to host "Dig Pink" night where they celebrate and raise awareness for those suffering from breast cancer. The gym was decked out in pink decorations and players wore "Coyote" uniforms with teal and pink trim. Our libero even had a pink alternate jersey. It was a beautiful sight to see.

It also happened to be Sophomore Night where CGCC Sophomore Volleyball players were acknowledged for playing their final home match of their careers as Coyotes. Mikaela Esparza, Alecia Kowallis, Kennedy Dastrup, Alyssa Smith, Shandi Allison and Kristen Sanderson were all honored before play began.

The Coyotes hosted the Phoenix College Bears and won in convicing fashion in straight sets (25-13, 25-15, 25-12). The Coyote defense was stellar as they did not allow the visiting Bears to score more than 15 points in any of the three sets. Kennedy Dastrup had 9 kills for the Coyotes and Milan Mendoza was feeling it with her 13 kills. Milan also had 16 digs to couple wit Mikaela Esparza who had 13 digs to lead the defense.

The Coyotes are nationally ranked within the top 15 teams in the nation and finish the regular season on the road at #1 ranked Scottsdale Community College on Friday. They then await their seeding for Region 1 postseason play. Their record sits at 13-8.
