Women's Basketball Team Has High Hopes

Chandler, AZ-- The Women's Basketball program earned a playoff birth last season for the first time since 2017. Although they lost to eventual Region 1 champion Pima College, the Coyote Women's Basketball program is looking to build on that momentum and make a return trip to the playoffs, plus much more.

With a largely new roster made up of 11 Freshman from 10 different places, Coach Fletch has his work cut out for him getting this team to all be on the same page; and to catch them up to a higher level of college basketball than they were previously used to. Coach Fletch said, "We are embracing the challenge. We have an incredibly diverse team, and a largely young team but we are process driven in getting better day to day and week to week and I'm excited about seeing the talent we have come together once we all get on the same page."

Although there are a lot of freshman, two sophomores will be leading the way for the Coyotes this season. Steph Da Silva, who had a very consistent freshman season averaging seven points per game, will look to be a leader on and off the floor for the team. Aisha Ashley, who provided a scoring spark off the bench late in the year last season looks to earn a starting spot and be one of the most dominant players in the conference as she has increidble versatility both with her back to the basket and from behind the arc.

The team has their first official game on November 3rd as they host Benedicitne University Mesa at 5:30 PM.
