Volleyball Rolls over Roughriders

Volleyball Rolls over Roughriders

Chandler, Arizona-- In their first game back from their tough trip to Las Vegas, the Coyote Volleyball team hosted Yavapai College in what was the first home game of ACCAC play. In front of a raucous student section crowd, the volleyball team jumped out to an early 12-1 lead over the visiting Roughriders and despite allowing the visitors to cut the lead to within four points at 19-15, the Yotes persevered and won that first set.

The Coyote Volleyball team is ranked 10th in the nation and showed exactly why they deserve that top ranking by defeating Yavapai in straight sets; in dominant fashion. Jada Blake and Kennedy Dastrup were jumping out of the gym, perfectly executing kill shots that the Yavapai defense had no business trying to return. The volleyball team has a record of 5-2 with their only losses coming to very talented teams. Although what happens in Vegas typically stays in Vegas, we can let you know that the volleyball team lost to Parkland College and to Utah State Eastern who is currently the 7th ranked team in the nation for Division 1 volleyball.

The Coyote Volleyball team is off to a strong start for the second year in a row and prepare to travel to South Mountain College on Friday night.
