Volleyball Concludes Strong Season
Nov 7, 2022

Phoenix, Arizona-- The CGCC Volleyball team fell a bit short of their goal this season, but have nothing to be ashamed of and so much to be proud of at the end of the 2022 season. Despite losing in the Regional Playoffs to Glendale College and Scottsdale College, ending their hopes of a Region 1 championship and trip to the national tournament, the young ladies making up Coyote Volleyball had some incredible accomplishments.

The team was perennially ranked amongst the top 15 teams in the nation with their only losses coming to some of the top ranked teams in the country. The team finished with a record of 15-7 with 12.66 kills per set and a hitting percentage of .234%; both top in the ACCAC. The 11.73 assists per set shows the strong teamwork they displayed and the 17.28 digs per set shows how strong defensively the team was all year; also top amongst the entire conference.

Kylie Wong was named as the top libero in the conference and Jada Blake, Aspen Aldous as well as Kennedy Dastrup were all also recognized by the conference for their stand out play this year.

Head Coach Jeff Nelson said, "I feel this team overachieved on many fronts this season. They put up great numbers and continued to move the program forward." He added, "I could not be more proud of them and more encouraged for the future of Coyote Volleyball."

Despite coming up a bit short in post season play, the Volleyball program will have a number of its members be recruited by 4-year schools including some potential scholarship options at the Division 1 level. The future is bright for the program and they will be primed for another run at the title in 2023.
