Sophie Shines All Season
May 16, 2022

Sanford, Florida-- Sophie Coleman, the standout Sophomore of the CGCC Women's Golf team, has been playing outstanding golf all season; earning herself a free trip to the Sunshine state of Florida to compete against the top golfers the NJCAA has to offer.

Throughout the year, Coleman played better and better as the year went on as she continued to climb the rankings. Then, she shot an 80 in Fort Worth, Texas at the NJCAA Region 1 District Tournament, good enough to play at the NJCAA National Championship tournament in Florida. Although she did not shoot as well as she expected, she still finished within the top 75 golfers in the entire country. Chandler Gilbert College is extremely proud of Sophie and all that she has accomplished in her college career. Sophie has earned a scholarship to play golf at the University of Nebraska Kearney, a Division II institution.

Head Women's Golf Coach Mark Underwood said, "I'm very proud of Sophie Coleman, she bought in to the whole thing and worked on changing her body with the strength and conditioning aspect, and she really worked hard in practice to become a good player. I'm excited to see how she will do at the next level."
