New Look for Women's Soccer

Chandler, Arizona-- Not only will the CGCC Women's Soccer team be rocking some fresh new uniforms this year, but some other changes have been made as well. Scott Smith, a long time assistant coach with the program has taken over as Head Coach. Former Head Coach Kevin Chavez, decided to step down entering this season to spend more time with family. 

Smith said, "I understand the potential this program has for success and I am thankful for the opportunity to lead these young women. There is no reason we can't compete for a championship here." The Women's Soccer program has a large amount of freshmen but some returners who were major contributors last season as well. The roster is made up of young ladies from all over the East Valley and two from the northern part of Arizona and New Mexico. The large amount of local talent will ensure the product on the pitch will be full of community pride. 

Athletic Director Russell Luce mentioned, "We know our Women's Soccer program is in good hands with Scott Smith, he is one of our people. I like the direction the program is headed plus I love those new uniforms." The Women's Soccer team kicks off their regular season at home on August 23rd against Gateway Community College at 8 PM under the lights at the CGCC Soccer field.
