Chandler, AZ-- CGCC Athletics partnered with Monarch Sports and Mark Beasley to power the inaugural LV8 Invitational at the Coyote Center over the days surrounding Thanksgiving. This event saw some of the best and brightest high school boys and girls teams compete against one another in our very own college gymnasium; what a treat for those young people. The Coyote Center was packed to near capacity for many of the games and we even saw Student Body President with a T-Shirt Cannon! Coyote culture was in full effect!
Our very own Coyote Women's Basketball team capped off the event when they hosted Justice College in a non conference matchup on Saturday evening. The Coyotes struggled out of the gate and were sluggish in the first half but were able to pull away in the second half to win 67-35. Aisha Ashley lead all scorers with 14 points including making 10 free throws. Meagan Urbanksi shined off the bench with 10 points and Shiryl Yazzie had an awesome floor game pulling down 11 rebounds to go with 5 assists and 2 steals. The Coyote record advances to 5-2 as they prepare to travel to Arizona Western College on December 6th.
