Kaylin Johnson Excels at NJCAA Golf Nationals
May 15, 2023

Garden City, Kansas--- Kaylin Johnson overcame tremendous odds and numerous travel setbacks to do extremely well at the NJCAA Women's Golf National Championship tournament over the weekend. This was the 8th consecutive year the CGCC Women's Golf team has sent a player to the National Championship Tournament. Despite the airline losing her golf bag and golf shoes, Johnson persevered and dialed in a great performance throughout the weekend.

On Day 2 the Casteel High School graduate shot a round of 4 over 76 to move up 20 spots into a tie for 22nd heading into round three. Her four birdies on the day were impressive but shooting the 4th lowest score of the day in howling winds gusting to 40 MPH was outstanding!

Johnson?s final round 79 pushed her into a 34 place finish in the field of 90 golfers at Buffalo Dunes GC in Garden City, Kansas. Johnson?s rounds of 81,76,84,79 were carved out in sustained winds of up to 40 mph, tornado warnings, lightning, and torrential downpours! Coach Underwood said, "The steady playing young sensation plays a mature game well beyond her years."
