Gauchos No Match for Coyotes

Chandler, AZ-- In what will end up being a crucial game for potential playoff seedings come the end of the season, the CGCC Coyotes were able to secure victories over the visiting Glendale Gauchos in both the Men's and Women's Basketball contests Wednesday afternoon at the Coyote Center. 

The Men kicked off the action and got an early lead of almost 20 points before Glendale fought back and made it a one possession game late in the second half. Isaiah Somers big game of 28 points lead the way for the undefeated 14-0 Coyotes. Somers scored from all three levels including at the basket, from behind the arc and from the free throw line. Jalen Johnson used his length and athleticsm to pour in 23 points for CGCC. The final score was 90-79.

The Women played the second game of the day and won 70-56 behind a strong defensive effort in the second half. The Coyotes were down by one, 33-34 going into halftime but rallied and only allowed 22 second half points. Sam Sibbet was electric from behind the arc with her four 3-pointers and punished the defense by adding 8 free throws to total 20 points. Mya Jonhson contributed 15 points in the win. 

The Men's Basketball team is 14-0 and the Women's team is 7-6. They both prepare to face off with Arizona Western College Saturday at the Coyote Center.
