Coyotes Earn Huge Win in Thriller

Chandler, AZ-- The Coyote Men's Basketaball team earned their 20th win of the year in thrilling fashion, taking on Scottsdale Community College, a top ten ranked team in the nation. Scottsdale was riding a lengthy winning streak as they hadn't lost a game since prior to Christmas but that all came to an end in front of a large crowd that packed the Coyote Center.

The game was back and forth, nip and tuck the whole way. Scottsdale had a chance to go up three points while being up 77-76 with seven or so seconds left in the game and they had the ball under the Chandler Gilbert basket but the Coyotes threw on some incredibly stout defense and forced Scottsdale to call two consecutive timeouts without getting the ball inbounds. Scottsdale threw up a missed shot and CGCC coralled the rebound. The Coyotes called timeout shortly after crossing halfcourt and with six seconds left to go Nik Atanasovs ducked in on the left block, caught the basketball and made a move to the rim. Demonstrating incredible touch, spectacular poise and flexing his tremendous clutch gene, he gently layed the ball in with his left hand with a slight kiss off the glass.

With two seconds remaining Scottsdale had to go the length of the floor but their halfcourt shot attempt fell short giving the Yotes the 78-77 victory. The Coyote Men's Basketball team is 20-6 and prepare to host Cochise College on Saturday afternoon at 2 PM.
