Chandler, Ariona-- On Wednesday night the Men's and Women's Basketball teams hosted the Glendale Gauchos in a big ACCAC matchup between two Maricopa County schools. Despite being on a COVID pause over the end of last week, weekend and begining of this week, both home teams came out victorious. After only one practice since the pause, the Women's Basketball team got contributions from each member of the team as all active players scored at least one basket. The Coyotes cruised to a 72-45 win.
In the second game of the night, and after only two practices, the Men's basketball team overcame a lot of early turnovers to earn a tough 74-67 win. The Gauchos got the better of CGCC when the two teams faced off at Glendale College earlier this year. Isaiah Somers paced the Coyotes with his 16 points. Asa Williams scored from all three levels totaling 15 points. The Coyotes now move to 13-6 and 4-5 in ACCAC play.
Both teams are on the road this Saturday at Phoenix College. The Women tip off at 2 PM followed by the Men at 4 PM in what should be another battle between two Maricopa County teams and big implications for conference seeding.
