Basketball Teams Dominate in Season Opener
Nov 2, 2021

Chandler, Arizona-- Both the Men's and Women's Basketball teams began regular season play Tuesday night in their familiar home surroundings of the Coyote Center, and it wasn't just the home court advantage that lead them each to victory, it was hard nosed play, hot shooting and their individual uptempo styles.

The Women's team began the night against the Benedictine University Mesa Varsity Reserve team and despite starting off a bit slow, cranked up the pressure throughout the second quarter and took a 46-23 lead into the half. They continued their uptempo pace in the second half creating even more turnovers for the Redhawks en route to an 81-49 win. Sam Sibbet lead all scorers with 21 points.

The Men's game did not disapoint Coyote fans either as Head Coach Steve Silsby and his guys cruised to a 97-52 win. The full court press of the Coyotes plus the barrage from 3-point range was no match for the visiting Redhawks. Asa Williams, Thomas Mullings and Isaiah Sommers all had highlight reel dunks in the win.

The Women's team is now 1-0 and get ready to turnaround quickly as they host Ottawa University at 7 PM Wednesday night at home.
