Chandler, AZ-- The baseball team opened up conference play Friday night with a highly anticipated matchup with Phoenix College. Phoenix College, the defending Region 1 Champs who beat Chander Gilbert in the Region 1 Championship last season, traveled out to CGCC and faced off with the Yotes under the lights. The Yotes gave up four runs over the course of the game and did not score until the bottom of the 8th in which they scored all five of their runs powered by a grand slam from Dante Turgeon. Stout defense in the top of the 9th sealed the deal for the Coyotes. Andrew Yusypchuk was on the mound for the Yotes and struck out nine Phoenix College batters over the course of six and 2/3 innings.
