Chandler, AZ-- Saturday January 27th was a big day for Coyote Athletics. Both the Men's and Women's Basketball team competed in conference games and the baseball team had opening day for their 2024 season. Fortunately for Yote fans everywhere, the Yotes went 4 for 4 on the day with four victories.

The Women's team started things off with a resounding 68-46 win over crosstown rival Glendale Community College. Despite starting off a bit sluggish, the home team prevailed behind 19 points from Steph Da Silva including 14 points in the 3rd quarter alone. The Coyotes stepped their game up defensively in the second half to pull away. That is their 10th win of the year, matching their win total from all of the 2022-2023 season. They plan on exceeding that win total soon with 9 games left to play.

The Men's basketball team followed that game with their own matchup against Glendale Community College, beating the Gauchos 93-70. Andre Harris, the two time ACCAC Player of the Week had 25 points to lead all scorers. Marlon Landingham came off the bench to contribute a strong 18 points. The Men's basketball team record stands at an impressive 18-2 and they are currently in first place in the conference.

Lastly, the Coyote baseball team had their opening day as they faced off with the GCU Club team in a doubleheader. The Coyotes proved that they can be a force to be reckoned with this year as they started off their season with a 10-0 win behind an incredible effort from starting pitcher Jonah Johnson who threw a complete game no-hitter. If not for a lone walk he gave up, the young man would have had a perfect game. The second game was a lot closer but the Yotes still prevailed 8-6. They start their season 2-0 and their next game is Tuesday the 30th against the Scottsdale Post Grad team.

Coyote Athletic Director Russell Luce said about the four victories, "Win the day, that is our thing within Coyote Athletics. We are proud of the strong effort from all of our Coyotes today, they represented the right way and won the day. A special thank you to our athletic training staff for providing excellent coverage and stepping up despite being pulled in many directions. We are excited about the rest of the Spring."
