Women's Basketball Tip-Off

​The Women's Basketball team opened up their season against Park University Gilbert. The Coyotes started the game strong but were unable to keep the lead due to a plague of turnovers. The Coyotes struggled the entire evening keeping possession of the ball ending the game with 34 turnovers. The Coyotes also struggled from the field, shooting only 29% while parked shot 43%. CGCC couldn't hold Park off, losing 60-73.

  • Kayaani-Lee (#44) lead the Pack in scoring finishing with 16 PTS on 4-9 shooting. 
  • Tronnier (#30) grabbed 10 boards in her Coyote debut. 
The Coyotes hit the road after the season opener against park and made their way down to Yuma for the Desert Classic Tournament. On Friday, the Coyotes faced Colorado Northwestern. The Coyotes came out a bit sluggish in the 1st half but brought the energy to start the 3rd. The Coyotes ran their way back into game with steals and fast break layups. Coyotes came back to win the game 69-58.
  • ​Claw (#2) filled the stat sheet with 14 PTS, & 7 REBS, and 4 STL. 
  • Tronnier (#30) finished with 15 PTS, 9 REBS.
To wrap up the weekend, the Coyotes faced Owens (Ohio) Community College. CGCC started strong but allowed Owens to come back into the game at the end of the 1st quarter. The game was back and forth until the final buzzer. Owens had the final possession of the game looking to tie the score but missed the mark. Coyotes came away with it 70-67 and left Yuma 2-0. 
 
Coming up the Coyotes start a long home stretch with their 1st game against BenU JV 11/13 at 5:30pm and USU Eastern 11/15 at 6pm. Come out and support the Women as they look to continue their win streak!
