Pumas Fall to Coyotes in Walk-Off

It came down to the last play, but the Pumas were on the wrong end of a 9-8 defeat to CGCC on Tuesday. The game was tied at eight with CGCC batting in the bottom of the ninth when the Coyotes singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

The Pumas lost despite out-hitting CGCC ten to eight.

In the second inning, the Pumas got their offense started when Anthoine Shell hit a solo homer.

The Pumas scored five runs in the fifth inning. Noah Burgarello, Jager Straub, and Anthony Marcon all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

The Coyotes scored three runs in the seventh inning and then evened things up at eight in the bottom of the eighth inning 

Colton McIntosh was on the mound for the Pumas. The pitcher surrendered three runs on three hits over six innings, striking out eight. Logan Birch and Brady Welch entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

The Pumas launched two home runs on the day. Burgarello went for the long ball in the fifth inning and Shell went deep in the second.

The Pumas racked up ten hits in the game. Straub and Marcon each managed two hits to lead the Pumas.

Game 2: CGCC 6, PVCC 0 (7)

Early Lead for Chandler-Gilbert Seals Fate for Pumas

The Pumas fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 6-0 loss to Chandler-Gilbert on Tuesday.

The Pumas struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Coyotes, giving up six runs.

A single by Anthoine Shell in the fourth inning was a positive for Pumas.

David Enriquez started the game for the Pumas. The righty lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out eight and walking zero. Michael Modrick threw one inning in relief.
