Yotes Volleyball Goes Down to Wire

Chandler, Arizona-- The Coyote Volleyball team, ranked number eight in the country, hosted ACCAC rival Glendale College, ranked number 12 in the country, on Wednesday night. The epic match went the full five sets and truly came down to the wire. Despite losing the first two sets, the resilient young women fought back to win the next two sets. This set up the fifth and final set to 15 points to decide the match.

CGCC defeated Glendale three sets to none to start the season, so the visiting Gauchos were looking for revenge. Add that to the fact that these two highly ranked teams were battling for not only ACCAC playoff position, but national rankings and prominence as well.

The fifth and final set saw Glendale get up 4-1 to start, resulting in a timeout being called by CGCC Head Coach Jeff Nelson. The Coyote Volleyball team once again showed their toughness and grit by clawing their way back and eventually winning the set 15-11 and winning the match. It was a total team effort for the Coyotes as they proved once again that toughness and togetherness can overcome any odds. The Coyotes are now 9-4 and prepare to travel to Thatcher, AZ to take on Eastern Arizona College on Friday night.
