Women's Basketball Looking for Redemption

Women's Basketball Looking for Redemption

Chandler, AZ-- To many associated with the CGCC Women's Basketball program, the 2021-2022 season was a disapointment, but Head Coach Fletcher Brown, in his second season leading the team, is looking to build upon the lessons learned throughout last year and is ready to take the next step as a program. "We came up short of our goals last year but we learned a lot about what it takes to be successful, and we are process driven in looking to improve upon that."

Coach Brown knows becoming succesful is a process, but he also understands he has pieces in place that can perhaps make the Coyotes a winner sooner rather than later. Sophomore guards Mya Johnson and Sam Sibbet who were recognized as All-Conference selections as freshman, are returning for their second season and will be relied upon to help lead the way for the team. Acacia Byaus and Siarra Beck are two freshman post players who will add the much needed force in the interior that the Coyotes sorely lacked last year. And sophomore transfer Aylin Garcia-Ramirez and sophomore forward Steph Da Silva, who hails from Australia are dynamic players on the wing who can provide a little bit of everything for the team.

Brown also mentioned, "We have a diverse mix of players, a little size and a little experience combined with two incredibly knowledgeable and caring assistant coaches. We have the necessary pieces we just need to believe in ourselves and play hard every night because there are no slouch teams in this conference."

The Coyotes open up their regular season November 1 at 7:30 PM in a doubleheader with the Men's program against the Ben-U Mesa JV team. Follow the Coyote Women's Basketball team on twitter @CoyoteWBB to stay up to speed with everything CGCC Yote Hoops.
