Phoenix College Bears Fail to Beat Coyotes

Chandler, AZ-- The Phoenix College Bears came into the Coyote Center on Wednesday night for a highly anticipated ACCAC basketball matchup and eventually left the Coyote Center with a different outcome than they expected. In the first game, the CGCC Men's Basketball team was up close to 20 points at halftime but a strong 2nd half surge by the visiting Bears made it a one possession game in the final minute of play. Kenny Haynes was able to hit clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the deal for the Coyotes. Jalen Johnson was electric throughout the game with his array of slam dunks as he continuously flushed the ball through the net with ferocity. The Men's Basketball team is 4-0 in conference play and undefeated overall at 9-0 on the year.

In the Women's game, the Coyotes cruised to a 71-44 victory; their 4th overall and 2nd in conference play. A monster game was had by Sophomore Mya Johnson who finished with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Acacia Byaus came up big for the Coyotes too, scoring the teams first 6 points. She finished with 15 total points and 8 rebounds. Tianna McKinley came off the bench to contribute 14 points including two 3-pointers.

The Coyotes next game is on Saturday at home against Yavapai College. The Men tip off at 2 PM and the Women follow at 4 PM. Admission is free at the Coyote Center!
